Marinna and Pete – Wedding

post written on 27 Aug 09 in Photography, Weddings

I book most of my weddings through word of mouth.  That usually means that at my weddings there are a handful of other couples (besides the bride and groom) that I have already photographed, or will photograph.  It makes these events so much fun because I feel like I already know everyone.  That was definitely the case for Pete and Marinna’s wedding.  Pete and Marinna were at April and Ryan’s wedding only a few weeks earlier, as were many of their friends.  The reception was held at Marinna’s house which only added to the familiar and intimate feel of the event.

Here are a few of my favorites from the day:

Marinna’s dress framed in the door of the family study.

Marinna’s mom told me that ever since the family moved into this house, she’d been dreaming about watching her daughter walk down these stairs.  Her sister – was just the sweetest little sister, and best helper.

I just loved this moment from the ceremony.  Almost all kids have a tough time making through a full mass!

Pete and Marinna had a cheering section for the first kiss!

All of the bridesmaids had different flowers and they were so beautiful.

Sarah & Dan

post written on 18 Aug 09 in Photography, Weddings

I first met Sarah and Dan in a small pastry shop just outside Harvard Square and instantly loved their chemistry.  They were so clearly happy together that I knew their wedding would be a blast.  We met again for an engagement session in the Boston Public Garden and got to see a bit more of their personalities.  I love that they were willing to put their feet in!  We had a blast walking around the gardens, Commonwealth Ave. and Copley Square and we all got  more excited for the wedding.

Dan and Sarah got married on August 1st on what was one of the most beautiful days of the summer.  The ceremony took place at the Park Street Church and the reception at the Boston Museum of Science.  Here are few of my favorites from the day.

Since Sarah and Dan met at Harvard, I figured this was only natural:

Sarah’s beautiful red calla lilies which played well with the old woodwork of the Park Street Church:

Some of my favorite images of Sarah:

My assistant Don, from Don Mamone Photography, caught this great moment with the bridesmaids before the ceremony:

Dan was getting ready below the church.  Here he was getting a bit of help with his tie!

The Park Street Church has these beautiful stairwells.  Here the bridesmaids are heading down to the ceremony.

One of my favorites from the ceremony that Don caught.

I love all traditions surrounding leaving the wedding… especially ones where people throw things.  All of my brothers trashed each others cars with absurd decorations.  For Sarah and Dan it was a bit more gentle, but equally fun.

I love this stolen moment of Dan looking at his new bride outside the church.

The reception took place at the Boston Museum of Science.  As we arrived the golden sunset was filtering into the tent.

People often ask why I always work with a second shooter.  The answer has nothing to do with confidence or anything like that.  I love having a second eye with me.  Sometimes as a photographer, you’ll get a idea in your head and you’ll work to bring that idea to fruition – and while working to make it happen, you can’t always see what you’re doing from a different angle.  Take the shot below as an example.  I knew what look I wanted to achieve, and Sarah and Dan were awesome to work with and fell so naturally into this great moment.  While I love the shot I got- I love Don’s shot too (right below mine), and I might have missed that angle had he not been there.

Perhaps my favorite series of shots from the came during a moment when Sarah and Dan snuck away from the party to be alone for a minute.  I couldn’t resist as I saw them relaxing along the rail here:

Eventually they turned to look at the sunset and the light caught their faces in such a beautiful way.

Again – another series where it was great to have an assistant.  During Sarah and Dan’s final dance, we caught these great series of moments, from different angles.

Of course – the slideshow.  Check it out to see more of their wedding!

Thanks so much Sarah and Dan for letting us share in your day!  We had a blast!

April & Ryan

post written on 05 Aug 09 in Photography, Weddings

April and Ryan got married on one of the most beautiful Saturday’s of this summer.  Somehow they dialed in just the right mix of sun & puffy white clouds, accompanied by a gentle breeze off the water.  Their ceremony and reception, which were held at the Wentworth-by-the-Sea Country Club, were absolutely spectacular.  What was more fun was bumping into two other couples who I’ve worked with, or am going to work with!  I love feeling like I know everyone already.  April and Ryan could not have been more welcoming and as a result we had a blast photographing their wedding.  Here are a couple of my favorites from the day:

The radiant bride got ready at the Sise Inn in downtown Portsmouth, NH.

I just love the smile on Ryan’s face.  And check out that view!

Now you know why he was smiling!

April’s bridesmaids were so cute – smiling and whispering throughout the ceremony.

I just love this picture.  Such real emotions and reactions!  So cute!

After the ceremony we ducked away to take some more intimate shots (one of which I shared the other day).  I couldn’t resist using the veil – the wind kept playing tricks with it.  These two just fell right into these moments naturally.

The Wentworth CC is clearly a gorgeous location.

April and Ryan had a starfish theme which you can see on this simple and elegant cake.

Great moment from the dance floor.

After the dances, we snuck out again quickly to catch a couple of shots as the sun went down.  I was fortunate enough to have been joined by Derrick Morin of Morin Photography, who so graciously helped out for the day.  This one was caught by Derick as I was working the other angle.  Great catch Derrick!

One of my favorites from the day.  Don’t they look good!?!

As you can see from the series below, April and Ryan are loved by their friends!
